Tyler-Claire Thompson: Broadcast and Event Storyteller

Connecting through content and live moments

About me

I work across events in hospitality and commercial radio, with the majority of my experience rooted in radio. I’m a qualified broadcaster with extensive time behind the mic and in the producer’s chair, alongside strong operational expertise that underpins successful on-air outcomes. My radio operations experience includes building clocks, scheduling music and commercial assets, audio production, and managing daily broadcast workflows using systems such as G-Selector, Zetta and Simian. I understand how content, scheduling and technical execution intersect to drive consistent, high-performing radio.

I support commercial radio teams to achieve Number 1 survey results by delivering audience-first programming, clean execution and compelling audio that keeps local markets engaged. My strengths span on-air announcing, producing standout content, coordinating live events, and leading teams in fast-paced environments. I’m a confident negotiator, known for keeping people calm and motivated under pressure, and for getting things done efficiently — no ego, no fuss.

What sets me apart is my versatility. I’m a genuine all-rounder: equally comfortable on the mic, behind the scenes, managing talent, producing audio, coordinating events, or working hands-on with broadcast systems and panels. I bring both creative instinct and operational rigour to everything I do.

Outside of work, I’m a passionate music fan and reader, an enthusiastic book club member, and deeply invested in championing artists who deserve a bigger platform. Music isn’t just my career - it’s a core part of my life.

Projects

A glimpse into my work blending radio and live events.

Tanya & Steve LIVE

Commemorating 10 years of Tanya & Steve on air, I led the end-to-end planning and delivery of Tanya & Steve LIVE, guiding the event from initial ideation through to live execution. The milestone was marked with a live outside broadcast from Dixon Park Beach, drawing thousands of visitors from across Newcastle to celebrate the show alongside guests old and new. The event featured free coffee, a petting zoo, face painting and a major cash prize, creating a family-friendly, high-energy atmosphere that delivered strong community engagement and a memorable live broadcast.

Triple M Tuckshop

I ran Triple M Tuckshop, a long-running, community-focused outside broadcast activation that took the Tanya & Steve breakfast show into local schools across Newcastle. Delivered in partnership with Woolworths, Maitland Mutual Bank and Bakers Delight, the initiative combined live radio with on-ground experiences, including free breakfasts and family-friendly activities. The activation consistently delivered strong sponsor visibility, repeat partner investment, increased outside broadcast reach, and measurable audience engagement, while strengthening community trust and positioning the show as a genuinely local, high-impact brand, all while ensuring kids went to school with a full tummy.

i98fm Illawarra Convoy

I helped deliver i98FM's Illawarra Con, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest one-day fundraiser. Working closely with talent, musicians, event stallholders and commercial partners, the event combined live radio, on-ground storytelling and audience engagement to amplify fundraising and participation. The broadcast delivered significant regional reach, strong sponsor visibility and repeat commercial support, while helping drive funds that were returned directly to Illawarra families supporting children with serious illness - reinforcing the station’s role as a trusted, community-first media partner.

Behind the Mic
hit106.9's Easter Bunny Money

I conceived, planned and executed the Easter Bunny Money activation — a large-scale, interactive cash giveaway and Easter egg hunt at Shortland Waters Golf Club in Newcastle. Drawing hundreds of participants from all across NSW, the event transformed the golf course into an immersive experience with over 100 chocolate and special prize eggs scattered across 1 hole. Participants raced to collect as many eggs as possible, uncovering cash, golf memberships, restaurant vouchers, and other prizes from a total prize pool of more than $10,000. The highlight was a $2,500 special egg that brought a young winner to tears of joy, delivering memorable moments and strong community engagement.

hit106.9's JT in NYC

I developed and delivered the JT in NYC listener promotion: a high-impact experiential campaign designed to reward audience loyalty and create unforgettable moments. From initial concept to final execution, I led the strategy to offer one lucky listener an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City to see Justin Timberlake live at Madison Square Garden. The prize package included return flights for two, a 5-night stay in a 4-star hotel, $1,000 spending money and concert tickets, creating maximum appeal and media buzz. I managed prize selection, promotion rollout, audience engagement and winner coordination, culminating in an emotional announcement that resonated strongly with the community and delivered significant brand goodwill.

HIT106.9 Welcomes P!NK to Newcastle

For P!NK’s headline performance in Newcastle, I designed and delivered a standout fan engagement activation that was featured in the official concert recap reel. From concept to execution, I led the creative strategy to enhance the live event experience with engaging touchpoints including custom airbrush tattoos, on-brand signage, and interactive moments that invited fans to participate and share their excitement. Positioned within the venue’s fan zones, the airbrush tattoo station became a visual highlight — encouraging social sharing and amplifying the concert’s energy both on-site and online. This activation not only elevated the overall experience for attendees but also contributed to the show’s digital storytelling, with our elements appearing in the artist’s own promotional content.

NRL Ground Announcing/MC

I have experience working as a ground announcer and MC across major NRL fixtures, including the Women’s State of Origin at McDonald Jones Stadium. Operating in a live, high-pressure broadcast environment, I delivered clear, confident on-ground presentation while working closely with event operations, broadcast and production teams. The role required strong timing, adaptability and audience awareness — from building pre-game atmosphere to delivering in-game and post-match announcements with accuracy and professionalism. Stepping into a stadium MC role at this level strengthened my ability to perform under pressure while maintaining composure, clarity and connection with a live crowd.I bring a calm, broadcast-trained approach to live sport presentation and thrive in environments where precision, presence and teamwork are essential.

The Del Charity Golf Day

I conceptualised and delivered the Del Hotel Charity Golf Day as a purpose-led event supporting Jenny’s Place, built around a simple idea: get a room (or course) full of men engaged in a conversation they’re often not part of. Traditional fundraising in this space can feel like an echo chamber, so the strategy was to meet people where they’re comfortable — on the golf course — and create an environment that felt relaxed, social and genuinely engaging, without losing sight of the cause. I led the event end-to-end, from securing sponsors and managing partners to shaping the overall experience, developing on-course activations, and overseeing all logistics on the day. The result was a sold-out event that raised over $8,000, but more importantly, it created a space for meaningful engagement, proving that the right environment can bring new voices into important conversations and drive real community impact.

This period also marked a major personal milestone, earning my first ACRA, recognising the impact and quality of my on-air work within a leading regional radio market.
